Φλ(αυίου) Ζήνωνος τοῦ αἰωνίου Αὐγούστου

English Translation

After the consulship of our lord Flavius Zeno, the eternal Augustus, on the 3rd (?) of Thoth, 18th indiction.
To Flavius Ioannes, scriniarius of the military order, from the most illustrious city of Hermopolis,
from Aurelius Phoibammon, son of Thourbon, whose mother is Helen, from the village of Ptemenkyrcis Poimenon in the Hermopolite nome, greetings.
I willingly and voluntarily wish to lease from you for a period of three years the two arouras belonging to you in the plain of the same village (total two arouras), for sowing and storage of whatever I choose, at an agreed annual rent of two gold solidi by the standard of Hermopolis minus six carats, making two gold solidi by the standard of Hermopolis minus six carats, which rent I will pay you without fail each year at the end of the month Mesore. At the completion of the lease period, I will return to you the two arouras as I received them.
This lease is valid and secure, and upon being questioned, I have acknowledged it. I, Aurelius Phoibammon, son of Thourbon, the aforementioned, have leased as stated above.
I, Aurelius Horos, son of Pkylios, having been requested, wrote on his behalf, as he was present and instructed me, since he does not know letters.
And through me this document was written.
Lease of Phoibammon son of Thourbon, two arouras.
