Lucius Caecilius Secundus, a knight of the Paullini cavalry, of the Dicaci troop, acknowledges that he owes you two hundred drachmas, both Augustan and Ptolemaic, which I will pay to you at the next stipend and their interest in monthly installments in drachmas, three asses, without any dispute, in addition to other Augustan and Ptolemaic drachmas, four hundred, for the pledge of a silver helmet and insignia, a silver scabbard for a sword, placed under an ebony base, executed in Alexandria, in Egypt, on the 8th day before the Kalends of September, in the year of Tiberius Caesar Augustus. I, Lucius Caecilius Secundus, have written this as it is prescribed.

Lucius Caecilius Secundus, cavalryman of the ala Paullini,
from the squadron of Dicacus, to Gaius Pompeius, soldier of the cohort,
[and] to Habetus of the century of Betitus, greetings. I acknowledge
that I owe you two hundred Augustan and Ptolemaic drachmas,
which I will pay you from my next stipend,
along with their interest each month,
at one hundred drachmas and three asses, without any dispute,
besides another four hundred Augustan and Ptolemaic drachmas
for pledges: a silvered helmet, a silvered insignia,
and a silver dagger sheath with ivory fittings.
Done at Alexandria in Egypt, on the 25th of August,
in the consulship of Gaius Sallustius Crispus and Lucius Lentulus Scipio.
I wrote to them because of the letters.
