Argaeus to Aphthonetus. We have submitted to you the copy of the registration made by the appointed judges who handle incidental matters.
(Year) 19, Hyperberetaios 25, through Zoilus son of Hephaestion.
From Alkidemos and Artemidoros, the judges who handled incidental matters.
Since Apollonius son of Sokles was placed in custody and was unable, having appeared within the days prescribed by the decree, to repay Aristippos and the local collectors the amount received from the local tax collector.
It was possible for Ammonius to appear, and he requested that Aphthonetus be instructed to order Ammonius to appear, and upon the presentation of the sealed document to him, to give security and a written oath concerning the entire matter for the trial.
And Apollonius agreed that if Ammonius appeared and the sealed document was accepted from him, the trial would proceed accordingly; but if he did not appear and the sealed document was accepted from him, Aphthonetus should instruct those under him concerning Ammonius.
Having received from Apollonius a copy of the petition sent to the judges handling incidental matters, he should give it to him and request permission to sail to Alexandria within the days prescribed by the decree, having also the documents necessary for the settlement.
If he does not appear, the claim will be granted to Apollonius; but if he appears and Apollonius does not receive the claim, he will repay him the expenses incurred for the voyage, and concerning these matters, he will reply to him in whatever manner is arranged.
