To Nikānos, the steward. I have written to you many times, because I am unable to manage in the prison, being greatly troubled by the famine; there are ten months, and I have been unjustly imprisoned, for which reason I am a steward, so that justice may be done to all through you in the land.
Through you. For there exists in the document: if some of those in Alexandria or in the land, in the archives or to their servants or to the others who are dealing with the royal matters, should call upon them, they will give justice and will take it upon the proven overseers, whom the governor may appoint or may request to be done according to the judgment.
If there is a judgment concerning Demetrius and Apollonius, which I have written about to Dionysiodorus, the steward concerning these matters, it has been decided that I should write and they have given to the financiers concerning these matters. Therefore, on account of the accuracy of Diophanes, I have been brought forth. I beseech you, not to destroy me in the famine in the prison, but to write to the governor concerning these things or to send me to him, so that I may attain safety.

To Nikanor, the overseer. I have written to you many times, because I am being oppressed in prison, perishing from hunger. It has been ten months now that I have been unjustly detained, for which reason you, as overseer, should ensure that justice is done for all through you, for those in the region. For it is stated in the ordinance: if anyone brings charges against those in Alexandria or in the countryside [...] archives, or against their assistants, or against others conducting business [...] of the royal administration, they shall give and receive justice before the appointed inspectors whom the administrator assigns or orders to carry out the judgment. If there is a judgment concerning what I wrote against Demetrios and Apollonios during the administration of Dionysiodoros concerning these same matters, he decided that I should write and [...] they gave it to the financial officials concerning these same matters. Therefore, because of Diophanes' strictness, I was arrested. I beg you earnestly not to let me perish from hunger in prison, but to write to the administrator about these matters or to send me to him [...] so that I may obtain deliverance.
