To Flavius Sisinnius,
from Aurelius Ammon, Petearbeschinius, a scholar from the city of Panopolis,
of Thebais. Since Eugenius has made a memorandum and I, Ammon, my dear friend,
while we were together in the city of Panopolis, from
Dikaeodotus and Apollon, the poet, and another Horion, we have written a common agreement
concerning slaves in Alexandria, now existing in this splendid city,
under the administration of Harpokratios, left by my brother.
In this agreement, I do not know, on whose behalf I was led to accept such a set deadline
that within twenty days from the 7th and 20th of the past month of Hathyr, I should be present in Alexandria,
so that the matter may reach its conclusion. But now, having come here two days before the aforementioned Eugenius,
I did not meet him nor could I find him; therefore, today I publicly testify, which is the 13th of Choiak,
before the other four of the deadline, securing and requesting that this my assurance be placed
in the record, until he arrives so that no pretext may be presented to him; and these things I request to be
presented to your greatness, master, to be accepted through the city’s registry
on this day.
Of the consulship of Flavius Philippus, the most illustrious governor of the sacred praetorium
and Flavius Salias, the most illustrious master of horsemen, on the 13th of Choiak.
Aurelius Ammon has presented this as is appropriate.
