In the reign of our most divine lord Flavius Justinian, eternal Augustus and Emperor, in the 20th year, on the 29th of Thoth, sixth indiction:
I, Aurelius Peieutos, son of Apollos and Thekla, with my guarantor, who guarantees all trustworthiness and repayment, am obligated to you for this debt—I, Aurelius Petros, son of Psas and Thermouthia, farmers from the village of Lenaios in the Antinoite nome, currently residing there—to Aurelius Josephios, son of Sourous, a Jew by religion, from the same village of Lenaios in the Antinoite nome, greetings.
I, the aforementioned Peieutos, with my guarantor Petros, acknowledge by this written security that I have received from you the full and fair price for new wine, excellent and pleasing, amounting to one hundred twenty-one and a half small vessels, each of five Jewish xestai, totaling 121½ small vessels. I am prepared to deliver these to you at the time of the grape harvest in the month Mesore of the coming seventh indiction, God willing. Any vinegar or spoiled wine found among these wines until the month Tybi of the same indiction will be exchanged by me for good and better wine. I will deliver this wine to the doors of your house in the village at my own expense and freight, without any additional charge or dispute. If I fail to deliver the wine at the agreed time, I am prepared to pay you five gold solidi as compensation, enforceable against me and my property as if by legal judgment. This document is valid and binding, and upon questioning, I have acknowledged it.
I, Aurelius Kyriakos, notary, wrote this document on behalf of him who does not know letters.
Flavius Stephanos, son of Kyros, I witness this document, having heard it from the issuer.
Phoibamon Pollon, deacon, I witness this document, having heard it from the issuer.
Written by me, Kyriakos.
