In the year of the fourteenth (year) of the Emperor Trajan Hadrian Caesar Augustus, during the consulate of Marcus Flavius and Apprius and Coeindus Fabius Catilinus, three days before the Ides of September, according to the number of the new province of Arabia, in the fifth year and the twentieth of Gorpianus, and the twentieth, in the district of Maozah, Simon son of Jesus of Ananiah of Babatha, both residing in Maozah, greetings: I acknowledge that I have purchased from you a portion of the fruits of the palm gardens of Judah of your husband, who has been born in Maozah, called Gannath, Ferorra and Gannath Nikarkos, and the third called Molchaius, which you hold, as you say, instead of your dowry and affection. In the aforementioned year, I will complete for you in the same gardens forty-two talents and two shekels and two mina of black. I will measure these for you in your house, in the same way as I measure for you in your house, by the measure of Maozah through the pledge and the receiver Samouos Manaeou of the same Maozah. And if anything should remain in the aforementioned gardens, let us take a palm for myself instead of my labors and expenses. But if I do not provide you with the aforementioned palm at the time of the harvest, I will give you each one talent of two denarii and two shekels and one mina of black. From me and from my possessions or from my pledge, wherever the one acting wishes, either through him or on his behalf, his action will be valid everywhere, having been asked for in good faith and having been agreed upon.
