[Aurelius] Maximianus to Aurelius Apion,
greetings to your father.
Before all, I wish you the best in life.
I want to know you, that the man did not give us
the olives nor did Plotion give us
a coin, so that we could buy,
and he did not give us the wood
nor the wine and I have made
the camels and the
burden of the donkey,
and he did not give us
the donkey. I suspect
that he is going to the great one. Therefore, he did not give
the bronze. I have been with him so that
to give the
coin of the man and he did not give
me the things that were brought to me (drachmas)
I gave to the
man (drachmas)
x. He wanted to give me again
the things from me. If you do not write to him
to give them to me, he does not give.
Send through the animals
what I told you, two
purple mnas and the purple
of the garments, and likewise send to Heracleides
purple mnas
of large circles.
Heracleides and all of us greet you
by name. But
see that you do not do otherwise regarding the
purple of the large circles.
I wish you well always and may you always be
fortunate.

Αὐρ(η)λ(ίῳ). Ἀπίωνι ☓ [παρʼ Αὐρ]ηλ(ίου) Μαξιμιανοῦ
Aurelius Maximianus to Aurelius Apion, his father, very many greetings.
Before all else, I pray that you may enjoy the best things in life.
I want you to know that the man did not give us the olives, nor did Plotion give us money so that we could buy them,
and he did not give us cheap wine either. I have loaded the camels and made up the donkey's load,
but he did not give us the donkey. I suspect that he is going to the large (city?), and for this reason he did not give the money.
I have grown weary with him trying to get the man's money, and he did not give it.
From the money brought to me (80 drachmas), I gave the man 600 drachmas. But he wanted again
to give me back what was mine. Unless you write to him to give it to me, he will not give it.
Send by the animals what I told you: two minas of purple dye and the purple dye for the garments,
and likewise send to Herakleides one mina of purple dye of large circles.
Herakleides and all of ours greet you by name. But see to it that you do not act otherwise concerning the purple dye of large circles.
I pray that you and your whole household may always prosper.
(Verso:) To Aurelius Apion from Aurelius Maximianus.
