English Translation

Ammonios and Hermokles to Apollonios, the most honored, greetings.
Know that we have not found it convenient at present, due to the delivery of the public grain, to come to you and complain about the matters that distress us, as men who have been treated unfairly by you through the letter you wrote to Sarapion, the strategos of the Lycopolite nome, concerning our not sharing with you half of the vetch (arakos).

For if it had not been for the supplies of Artorius Priscillus, who was previously strategos, we would have discussed the shares, with you receiving two parts and us [unclear]... involved in the distribution of the vetch in the Hermopolite nome, we being involved from half, and at that time [unclear] to deliver to you half from the Hermopolite nome, so that you might be relieved both in terms of produce and [unclear].

We hastened to write to each other, however, due to the disturbances of the Jews. Now it is up to your conscience to act, and we urge you to consider carefully, as there is not only a small matter but also a state of unrest.

For this reason, we have sent to you a river-guard, so that you may write back to us whatever you decide, and that the matter may be resolved before the arrival of the most excellent epistrategos in the Lycopolite nome.
