Supplication and petition from Mary from the village of Sabbeos of the Theodosian law. A greatest benefaction is intended for all the wronged, the vindication of your glorious and extraordinary mercy. I am wronged for all reasons, and I, the wretched widow, raising many orphaned sons and never having been able to sow in the fields of fire, having this innate quality from my parents and ancestors, thus the foremost of my village of Sabbeos have violently come upon me, wishing to impose upon my widowhood the cultivated lands turned to the destitute with my orphaned children who are in need of necessary sustenance, to defend these who are not always sowing publicly and all burdens. Therefore, I beseech the height of your philanthropy, if you would command that I not be drawn into such a farming service and care of slavery, of which I have infinitely and weakly the ability to bear the part of the unharvested, so that I may not also find a place to deposit my goods, in order that, having received this benefaction, I may send up thanksgivings and hymns to the all-encompassing God and Savior Christ for the preservation as the only one of the height of your philanthropy and of your sweetest children forever, O Lord.

† Petition and supplication from Maria, from the village of Sabbe, in the district of Theodosioupolis.
A very great benefit is available to all who have been wronged: the justice of your glorious eminence.
I am wronged beyond all measure, I, the miserable widow, who am raising many orphaned, underage sons, and who have never [...] according to the sowing of wheat [...] nor have I inherited this naturally from my parents and ancestors. Yet, the leading men of my village Sabbe have violently come against me, wishing to impose upon my widowhood fields that are cultivated [...] in poverty [...] along with my orphaned children who require necessary sustenance, to defend myself publicly against these unsown lands and all burdens.
Therefore, I beseech your philanthropic eminence, if it seems good, to command that I not be compelled, contrary to the customary practice of my parents and my entire lineage, into such agricultural labor and servile care, of which I have no experience and am utterly unable to bear the burden [...] lest I find myself forced to abandon my land. Thus, having received this benefit, I may offer up thankful prayers and hymns to the Almighty God and Savior Christ for the preservation of your philanthropic eminence and your sweetest children forever, O Master ☧
