To Asclepiades, the royal scribe, from Marsisouchus of the Mareius, of those from Theadepheia, of the public land of Themisto. In the current year of Caesar, I have been granted by Pnepherotes of the public land of Tithougeus, the lands in his name concerning the village of public land, of which, having taken possession and having cultivated and having partially drained these lands for the same year of sowing, at some time of the words of Soterichus, the scribe of the village, having sent the agent and the guard to the lands, they seized me and delivered me to the account of Soterichus, simply owing me nothing, and I was not released before I had sufficient. The same Soterichus brought me a garment and clothed me in those matters concerning the sowing of the public lands, the time approaching, so that I did not suffer little harm. Therefore, Soterichus has with him a document of six years of ethnography, he claims to arrange for Soterichus to be upon you, so that he may take the taxes from me, and he is compelled to return to me what he has, so that I may not lose any of the public lands. May it be fortunate. (Year?) of Caesar, 36.

To Asklepiades, royal scribe, from Marsisouchos son of Marres, one of the public farmers from Theadelphia of the Themistos division. In the current 33rd year of Caesar, I have been assigned by Pnepherotes son of Tithougeus, public farmer, the 24 arouras of public land registered in his name around the village, of which I took possession, built embankments, and partially irrigated for sowing in the same year. For some unknown reason, Soterichos, secretary of the village scribe, having sent the collector and the guard to the lands, forcibly removed me and handed me over to the authority of Soterichos, although I owed nothing at all, and I was not released until after considerable trouble. The same Soterichos took away my cloak and hindered me in the sowing of the public lands I cultivate, at a critical time, causing me considerable loss. Since Soterichos holds my receipt for six years of poll-tax, I request that you order Soterichos to appear before you, so that he may receive instructions to leave me alone and be compelled to return what he holds of mine, so that nothing of the public revenues may be lost. Farewell. Year 33 of Caesar, Phaophi 13.
