Translation into English

Aurelius Cornelius Atrētos, son of Thaesios, from the village of Peneus of Diospolis, to Aurelius Apollonius of Sarapion from the illustrious city of Oxyrhynchus, greetings. I acknowledge that I have completed and delivered to you at the market of Upper Kynopolis a donkey (*), a female (*) first-born, of a purple color, in honor of the agreements made between us, ten talents of silver of the esteemed currency, which I also received here (*) from you in full, of the confirmation regarding all confirmations following me in what has been done forever. The matter is lordly, and if questioned, I acknowledge. In the consulship of our lord Maximianus, the second of the esteemed Epiphios. (hand 2) Aurelius Cornelius has sold (*) the donkey (*) and has withheld (*) the full honor (*) as is appropriate.

English Translation

Aurelius Cornelius Atretos, son of Thaesis, from the village of Peneutis in the district of Diospolis, to Aurelius Apollonius, son of Sarapion, from the illustrious city of Oxyrhynchus, greetings.

I acknowledge that I have sold and delivered to you at the market of Upper Cynopolis a female donkey, first foaling, mouse-colored, for the mutually agreed price of ten talents of silver imperial coinage, which sum I have received from you in full on the spot. The validity of this sale remains guaranteed by me, the seller, forever. The sale is valid, and upon being questioned, I acknowledge this.

In the second consulship of our lord Maximian Augustus, on the 18th of Epiph.

(Second hand) I, Aurelius Cornelius, have sold the donkey and have received the price in full as stated above.
