To the governor Dioscurides and the commander of the guard, from Theon son of Theon of Cyrene, of Hermotimus and Meleager of the infantry. On the night of the 16th of Thoth (year) of Jason son of Jason, a Jew, having come upon my house which is by the harbor guard, and having kept watch, the girl from my household opened the courtyard door, so that, spilling a basin, he suddenly jumped in and seized my dining companion Theodosius from the bed, and he did not do so moderately; immediately, however, having become master of the door, I was able to prevent others from joining in, as a greater noise arose and more people came in, among whom was Heracleotes. I sent him to you, and thus, having been brought in, he found the letter addressed to Theodosius in the document, and having taken both away, I immediately delivered to you Jason, whom Heracleides had appointed to the general for the coming days. Therefore, having given concerning the same matters and to the others who are accustomed, I request that you record my message and send it to you in a financial matter.

To Dioscurides, governor and commander of the garrison, from Theon son of Theon, a Cyrenaean, belonging to the infantry of Hermotimus and Meleager.
On the night leading into the 16th of Thoth, in the 28th year, Jason son of Jason, a Jew belonging to the same unit, came to my house located in the fortress by the harbor. Watching for an opportunity, when my servant girl opened the courtyard door to empty a basin, he suddenly rushed in, overturned it, and violently attacked Theodosius, who was dining with me, dragging him from the couch and severely mistreating him. Immediately, I secured the door to prevent others from rushing in, but as the disturbance grew louder and more people arrived, including Heracleotes, I sent for you. When Heracleides, sent by you, arrived and entered, he found the aforementioned Jason still assaulting Theodosius on the ground. He arrested both men, and I immediately reported Jason to you. On the following day, Heracleides brought him before the strategos (commander).
Having thus submitted this report concerning these events, I request that my complaint be officially recorded by you in the register.
Farewell.
Year 28, Thoth.
