Of the inheritances of those who have died, let them be given to the closest relatives.
These are the closest relatives: if there are no children left or if you adopt according to the law,
a father or mother, not living with another man; but if none of these exist,
brothers of the same father; but if these are not present, brothers of the same father;
but if none of these exist, let the inheritance be from the father’s father or the father’s mother or a cousin born from the father.
If none of these exist, let the royal estate be. And according to these, let the closest relatives also be.

Concerning those who have died, you shall deliver the inheritances to those nearest in kin.
The nearest kin are these: if one leaves no children or has not adopted a son according to the law,
then the father or mother, provided she is not living with another man.
If none of these exist, then brothers born of the same father.
If there are no brothers, then sisters born of the same father.
If none of these exist, then the father's father, or the father's mother, or a cousin born from the father's side—let the inheritance belong to these.
If none of these exist, let the property belong to the crown (royal treasury).
Let the same rules apply also to kinship claims.
