In the seventh year of Alexander the Great reigning, in the year of Ptolemy the satrap, in the fourteenth month of Dios, the writing of the settlement of Heracleides and Demetria. Heracleides takes Demetria, a genuine woman from the father Leptinus of Cos and the mother Philotides, a free woman, being offered a garment and adornment (of drachmas) A, and let Heracleides provide Demetria with all that is appropriate for a free woman. We are to be in agreement where it seems best to those deliberating in the common council of Leptinus and Heracleides. If Demetria, the wife of Heracleides, is found guilty of any wrongdoing, let her be deprived of all that she has brought. Let Heracleides demonstrate whatever he may accuse Demetria of in front of three men, whom both may choose. Let it not be permitted for Heracleides to bring in another woman in the presence of Demetria, nor to have children by another woman, nor to do anything wrong in the presence of Demetria. If Heracleides is found guilty of any of these things and demonstrates Demetria in front of three men, whom both may choose, let Heracleides return to Demetria the dowry which he has brought (of drachmas) A, and let him also pay back the silver of Alexandria (drachmas) A. The action shall be as if it were a legal case according to the law, having an end for Demetria and for those acting with Demetria, from both Heracleides and all of Heracleides' descendants and sailors. This writing shall be entirely valid as it is where the transaction has occurred, wherever Heracleides may bring against Demetria or Demetria and those acting with Demetria may bring against Heracleides. Let Heracleides and Demetria be the masters and let them keep and present their own writings to each other. Witnesses: Cleon the Gelonian, Anticrates the Timnian, Lysis the Timnian, Dionysius the Timnian, Aristomachus the Cyrenean, Aristodicus the Coan.
