To King Ptolemy, greetings from Epoharis Panetis, the lawgiver, residing in the village of Athens,
in the portion of Themis. I have a law in the aforementioned village, which has happened to
be in distress
and for this reason I am unable to settle there, fearing that I might fall into trouble.
Therefore, I ask you, O King, if it seems good to you, to command Diophanes the general to write what
is appropriate,
if what I write is true, to grant me the removal, so that having rebuilt I may restore it to the same
and the sacrifices may be completed
for you and your sister and the children.
For having done this, I will be shielded by your kindness.
Good fortune.
To Straton. Having received the
overseer and the village scribe, to inspect and, if what he writes is true,
let him be allowed
to remove it, and let it be your concern how it may be rebuilt again and not worse than the previous
law.
(In the year) of King L. 26, Choiak 13.
Epoharis Panetis regarding the removal of the law.
