To King Ptolemy and Queen Cleopatra, the sister of the gods, Philometor, greetings from Harendotes, your farmer of those dwelling in Oxyrhynchus of the territory of Arsinoe. In the 34th year (of the reign), I have rented from Heracleides, the Heracleides of the guard (of the ten), of those appointed over the lands measured in the Ptolemaic territory, the land that is fertile for grain, for which I have made a request to Heracleides to grant me the harvests of the same year for the settlement of my debts. The Heracleides, having come and having rejected the trust existing among men, and having taken as an ally Orion from Oxyrhynchus, the chief guard, prevented me and he who had previously allowed me to carry out the harvests unless Orion compelled me to present to Heracleides a letter concerning the harvests in the arrangement. For what I wished, the same Heracleides and Orion, having gone to my house, are making pledges against me for the second harvests. They do not cease to refuse to discuss the contracts and to conduct the financial matters, and having done this concerning me, they are causing troubles in the places for which I have made a refuge against you. I beg you to send me the petition to those judging the private matters, whose collector is Harmodios, so that having chosen it for a settlement and having called both Heracleides and Orion through Theodoros, the overseer of the village, they may command them not to disturb me in not ruling over thefts nor to invade my house and to pledge in any way the petitions that may happen to be.
