Translation into English

Not through me, Silvanus, from the city of Hermes, from Aurelius Castor of Polydeuces, from the colony of Calchones, of the same law.

I wish to voluntarily lease from you for one year a sowing (of the year) 16 of the indiction, the existing properties concerning the village of Ibion of Panectyros, five arouras for deposit of long grass according to half and of me, the lessee, according to the remaining half of your grass in the fields, from which I make expenditures from the sowing until the harvest and of the public and distributions of all kinds concerning the land that has.

The lease is valid. And being asked, I acknowledged. Of the consuls, Antonius Marcellinus and Petronius Probiano, the most illustrious.

Aurelius Castor of Polydeuces, the one in charge, I have leased as is stated. Aurelius Castor of Horion wrote on behalf of him letters without knowing.

English Translation

Not through me, Silvanus,
from Hermopolis,
from Aurelius Kastor, son of Polydeukes,
from the settlement of Kalchon,
of the same nome.
I willingly wish to lease from you for one year, for the sowing of the 16th year of the indiction,
the lands belonging to you near the village of Ibion Panecktyreos,
consisting of five arouras,
for the planting of long-growing grass,
half of which will be yours,
and the remaining half mine, the lessee;
and from your half of the grass, [I will deliver] bundles in exchange for the expenses I incur,
from sowing until harvest, including all public taxes and various assessments,
all of which are the responsibility of the landholder.
The lease is valid.
And upon being questioned, I acknowledged.
