In the measure of the just, let it be measured to Philip according to his own expenses.
Ten arouras.
From Philip, from this place.
As much as Philip wishes, let him cultivate each year the arouras, binding them at the hour to Philip according to his own expenses. Let Demosthenes give to Philip each year...
...and let him pay for the straw and the other expenses. If he does not give the dues and the grass and the straw, or does not do according to what is written, let Demosthenes pay Philip the price of the wheat of the aroura, ten drachmas for each, and for the grass of the aroura, each drachma...
...and for the straw, the price is ten drachmas, and let the action be done for Philip by Demosthenes according to the agreement. Philip agrees to have from Demosthenes a deposit of fifty-two drachmas of silver...
...let him return these to Philip in the first year of the lease in the month of Daesius before the dues are brought in. If he does not return, let Demosthenes calculate for Philip the wheat of the deposit of fifty-two drachmas as it is sold at the harvest, and let Philip expect the wheat of the fifty drachmas and two...
...let Demosthenes excavate each year of the lease the land which he receives...
...let Demosthenes pay Philip for the honor...

"...with a just measure he shall measure justly...
[to] Philip, for the tent, from his own expenses.
Ten arouras...
To Philip from this...
from wherever Philip wishes...
cultivating each year the arouras...
having bound (the produce), let him deliver it at the proper time to Philip, for the tent, from his own expenses.
And let Demosthenes give to Philip each year...
and straw...
let him deliver to Philip, for the tent, from his own expenses.
But if he does not deliver the rent and the grass and the straw, or does not act according to what is written, let Demosthenes pay to Philip the price of the grain, ten drachmas per artaba, and for the grass per aroura drachmas [...], and for the straw ten drachmas, and let Philip have the right of execution against Demosthenes according to the written agreement.
Philip acknowledges that he has received from Demosthenes an advance payment of clearly visible silver, fifty-two drachmas. Philip shall repay these to Demosthenes in the first year of the lease, in the month Daisios, before the rent is collected.
But if he does not repay, Demosthenes shall reckon grain to Philip for the advance of fifty-two drachmas at the price at which grain is sold at the threshing floor, and Philip shall accept this reckoned grain towards the rent of the fifty-two drachmas.
And Demosthenes shall plough each year of the lease the land which he receives...
Demosthenes shall pay to Philip a penalty..."
This papyrus fragment appears to be a lease agreement between two individuals, Philip and Demosthenes, detailing obligations regarding agricultural land, produce, payments, and penalties for non-compliance.
