Translation into English

As (of years) (?) - ca. 13 - , Anaphalanthos, Hypocharopos, -ca.?-

Kratevas of Macedon, of the Automedon, a private citizen. He testifies

to Ptolemaios, to whom Nikadas is appointed. Of the year,

in the month of Peritios, the thirtieth, being present in the village of

Heracleopolis of the nome, I have written a testimony with others

regarding the writing of the agreement which Nikadas wrote,

of which I testify to Ptolemaios, by which he acknowledges

to have in his possession one hundred and fifty artabas of grain,

which he has presented in the second and twentieth year.

And when the aforementioned writing was sealed by both Nikadas

and Ptolemaios and me and the other witnesses, I received the

writing of the agreement to keep it safe, which I still have in my

possession. This is a copy of the writing:

In the reign of Ptolemaios, son of Ptolemaios and Arsinoe,

of the gods Philopators, in the first and twentieth year,

at the hands of the priest Ptolemaios, son of Ptolemaios,

son of Chrysermos of Alexander, and of the gods of the

Brothers and of the Benefactor gods and of the Philopator gods

and of the gods Epiphanes, of the athlete Berenike, daughter of

Euergetis, of Tryphaina of the Nymph, of the carrier of

Arsinoe Philadelphus, of Demetria of Philinus, priestess of

Arsinoe Philopator, of Eirene of Ptolemaios, in the month of

Peritios, the thirtieth, in the village of Heracleopolis of the

nome. Nikadas of Macedon, of the Automedon, testifies

to have in possession one hundred and fifty artabas of grain,

which he has presented in the second and twentieth year.

If Nikadas or another comes to Ptolemaios or those who are

with Ptolemaios, calling upon or pledging the one hundred and

fifty artabas of grain, concerning which it is written,

of the presentation which he has from Ptolemaios, let the

entry to the one who is traveling be void and let it be

additionally paid to Nikadas, to Ptolemaios, an honorable

bronze talent and the damage and the act be to Ptolemaios

according to the diagram, and let it be also valid for

another acting on behalf of Ptolemaios, doing the same and

let nothing less than this writing of the presentation be valid.

Witnesses: Kratevas, (?), Kassandros, Asclepiades, the four

private citizens, Kassandros the ilarch, the six Macedonians of

the Automedon. Nikadas has priority in the presentation to me

as it is written and I have given it to Kratevas.
