τὴν ἀπὸ σοῦ γενησομένην πρὸς ἡμᾶς
σπουδὴν ἀκριβῶς ᾔδειν καὶ παρʼ Ἡ-
λιοδώρου ὁμ̣οίως ἐπυθόμην καὶ ἀ-
πὸ τῶν σῶν γραμμάτων, ο̣ἷς πιστεύ-
σας καὶ τῇ τοῦ τεχνείτ̣ου

ᾳ Κρητικὴν ὑ̣πολαμβάνω ἐσχηκέναι,
καὶ οὕτως ἐπὶ τοῦ ἔργου φανῆναι εὔχομαι,

ἀπὸ τῆς πολλῆς κατεργασίας τὰ κρο-
κύδια πλείονα ἐγένετο τῆς καθαρᾶς.
ἐρρῶσθαί σε εὔχομαι καὶ ἐπιστέλλειν

I have known precisely the diligence that will come from you towards us, and I have learned the same from Heliodorus and from your letters, in which having believed and in the promise of the craftsman (*) I assume that it has been established in Crete, and thus I wish to appear in the work, even if (*) from the great labor more of the dross has been produced than of the pure.
I wish you to be strong and to write about whatever you wish. Demetrius and all my friends and acquaintances send their greetings to you. Farewell to me, most honorable.
