Concerning the slave. When the slave is to be sold, let it be done in double. If someone else does not register it through the market officials or if the fees are not paid due to some escape, let the slave be withheld from the tax collector. If it is contested, let it be judged based on the presented criteria. And if the one chosen to report is free, let him be free after paying the due fees. Let these cases also be recorded by the clerk of the market officials and the copyist and the tax collector, and the tax collector shall write this document in a large ledger with clear letters before the market officials each day, and if on any day the report is not made, let him pay a fine (in drachmas), and let him also pay the additional fees.
