And to send to us those who have been appointed through your administration, sailors by the word of ships and of other vessels — we permitted to Egypt in the eighth indiction.

Soraeik to hire the remaining ones through you to the appointed regulation in our orders.
Therefore, receiving the present letters, send them with all brevity to the knowledge of the inner part of this present letter.
The gold of their wages should not be lacking from it, one coin and only.
For we know that it is of no concern to you, nor to the matters of the land, to execute or to give an end to any work as long as you do not require it, on behalf of those who are remaining through you unless it is towards the regulation that is set forth in our orders.
But we will not allow the matters to be thus.
For we do not intend to equate the sufficient, useful, and fulfilling with contempt; those through it to the incapable in the permitted matters to him through us by means of bribery. Therefore, if you have sense, execute the commission through our letters, let nothing be forgotten to refer to something from these but rather diligently fulfill.
It was written in the month of Thoth,

of the indiction.

And do not neglect to send to us those sailors who have been designated through your administration, for the purpose of ships and courier vessels and other matters—of the Egyptian expedition. In the eighth indiction, we have entrusted Haieas, son of Soraeik, to hire those who remain through you, according to the instruction placed in our registers.
Therefore, upon receiving this present letter, send quickly for the information contained within this letter, the gold for their wages, not falling short by even one single nomisma.
For we know indeed that neither you nor those of the region care to fulfill or bring to completion any task whatsoever unless you are compelled concerning those who remain through you, except according to the instruction contained in our registers.
But we will certainly not allow matters to remain thus. For we do not intend to equate the capable and useful man who fulfills his duties without negligence with the one who is incompetent in the tasks entrusted to him by us due to bribery.
Therefore, if you have sense, carry out the instruction given through our letter, not neglecting to forward anything from these matters, but diligently completing them. Written on the 13th of the month Thoth, in the 8th indiction.
