To Aurelius Calviesius Maximus (centurion) from Aurelius Pakysios of Tesenufer, priest and adornment of the sacred and learned village of Soknopaiou, of the Heracleides district.
I have a place in the house of my son Aurelius Tesenufer's wife in the settlement called Pisa of the Themistus district, where my provisions are kept.
Previously, when my relatives entered the place, because I was in Alexandria, the provisions were not found.
The cause of the theft was revealed as the place being above, having been pierced from the floor, leading to the crime. Those living inside, being interrogated, claimed that this had happened due to their influence, promising to give seven measures of wheat to the account of the theft; but since they had agreed to the promise, they have not yet met the payment, I am necessarily taking refuge with you and I demand that those summoned be brought to me to receive the seven measures of wheat that were established for me.
May it be successful. (hand 2) I have given to Aurelius Pakysios.

To Aurelius Calvisius Maximus, centurion,
from Aurelius Pakysis, son of Tesenouphis,
priest and stolistes of the sacred treasury of the village
of Soknopaiou Nesos in the Herakleides district.
I have a place in the house of my son's wife, Aurelius Tesenouphis,
in the hamlet called Pisai in the Themistos district,
in which my grain supplies for sustenance are stored.
Recently, when my household entered the place,
because I was in Alexandria, they found the grain
had been stolen. The cause of the theft appeared to be
that the place, being an upper room, had been broken into
through the flooring. When those living inside were questioned,
it became clear that the wrongdoing had been committed by some of them.
They promised, through the village chief and others,
to give seven artabas of wheat as compensation for the theft.
But although they agreed to this promise, they have not yet fulfilled it.
Therefore, I am compelled to appeal to you and request
that the accused, Panouphis son of Stotoetes and Pakysis son of Kanneites,
be brought before you, so that through your authority I may receive
the seven artabas of wheat assigned to me, in place of the greater amount stolen.
Farewell.
I, Aurelius Pakysis, have submitted this.
Year 24 of Marcus Aurelius Severus Antoninus, Parthicus Maximus, Britannicus Maximus, Medicus, Germanicus Maximus, Pius Augustus, Pharmouthi 12.
