The governor of Egypt says:
"To me, while seeking to learn
from some hypothesis, it happened
that the Egyptian women, according to local laws,
held the possessions of men through marriage contracts for themselves and their children, often
when disputes arose, they were ignorant
of the marital exchanges.
To this rightful claim, the possessions belong to the women."
