To Ptollarion, son of Ptollarion, former gymnasiarch, and to Gemeinos, former gymnasiarch, and to Amatios also called Paulinos, both sons of Patron, former gymnasiarch, from Penneis son of Orsenouphis son of Penneis from the village of Theogonis, and Syros son of Demetrios from the quarter of the Macedonians, both farmers and mutual guarantors for payment. We wish to lease from you for six years, beginning from the coming eleventh year of Aurelius Antoninus Caesar the lord, the lands belonging to you—half to Ptollarion and the other half to those around Gemeinos—near the aforementioned village of Theogonis, eight arouras of grain-land in the so-called [Pyrrhos' allotment] in two rotations: the first, third, and fifth years for sowing fodder grass for sheep, at an annual rent for these three years of sixty-four silver drachmas for all eight arouras left unsown; and the second, fourth, and sixth years for sowing wheat, at an annual rent for these three years, including the eight artabas of wheat seed we will receive, totaling one hundred seven artabas of wheat, all without deduction and without risk. We will perform the annual tasks required at the proper times, causing no damage, and we will deliver the rent each year in the month Pauni, measured cleanly with your own new six-choinix measure, the measurement being done through your overseers. The monetary rent will be paid in Phamenoth, with all public taxes being your responsibility as landowners, while the annual transport charges will be our responsibility. After the lease period, we will return the fields clean of weeds, reeds, grass, and any other harmful growth, if you wish to lease again.
