When Psasnios approached and said: 'Being a physician, I healed these individuals whom they entrusted to me for service,' Eudaimon said: 'Perhaps you healed them poorly. Teach the general (*), if you are a physician, you will have the public duties (*), and you will have the non-service.'"

Copy of a memorandum of Valerius Eudaemon, who was governor in the year [of Antoninus] Caesar the lord, Phamenoth 1, [the following] Psasnios appeared. Psasnios approached and said: "Being a physician by profession, I treated these very persons who have assigned me to public service." Eudaemon replied: "Perhaps you treated them badly. Demonstrate to the strategos (military commander) that you are indeed a physician practicing competently, and you shall have exemption from public service."
