To the rulers and council and accountant of Oxyrhynchus, greetings.
The divine and venerable fortune of our lords, the Emperors and Caesars, has commanded that divine letters be sent to me regarding the gold that has been dispatched from the province.
Let it be your concern that there is no delay in the matter, for it has been commanded that all the gold be delivered in Nicomedia within the days, that is, within the month of Mesore, and in this regard, let us demand the required amount of litra from each according to their ability and bring it to the splendid city of Alexandria, namely, these being brought by you, the accountant, and one of you who holds the first rank in the administration, cooperating with you in this contribution of the gold.
And let it be known that those who are not hindered by foreigners, unless they have established the festival there and have not yet engaged in trade, are indeed able to provide ten thousand for each litra counted by those providing under the most sacred treasury.
And in order that the payment of these be made ready in the places, I have sent to my lord and brother, the most distinguished universal one, as he may command the overseers to do this.
I wish you well. With these, Roman greetings.

To the magistrates, council, and accountant of Oxyrhynchus, greetings.
The divine and venerable fortune of our lords, the Emperors and Caesars, has commanded, through divine letters sent to me, that gold be purchased from the province. Take care, as this matter admits no delay, for it has been ordered that all the gold be delivered in Nicomedia within thirty days of the month Thoth, that is, by the fifth of Mesore. In this matter, demonstrating your devotion, you are required to collect thirty-eight pounds from each according to their ability and bring it to the illustrious city of Alexandria. These amounts are to be conveyed by you, the accountant, and one of you who holds the highest rank in the administration. You are to involve in this contribution those who deal in gold and the wealthiest individuals, without troubling foreigners unless they have established their residence there, have not yet become citizens, and happen to be wealthy. For each pound, one hundred thousand drachmas will be counted out to those providing it by the most sacred treasury. And so that the payment for these may be readily available on the spot, I have written to my lord and brother, the most distinguished catholicus, so that he himself may instruct the administrators to do this.
I pray for your good health. After this, Latin follows.
