I swear by the most revered divine oath of our lord Julian, the eternal Augustus, willingly and freely to guarantee Aurelius Horoptolein from the most illustrious city of Antinoopolis, being situated in the same village of Pella, having been entrusted by you, the landowner, to have what I have acquired, a Greek ship of a certain type, of more than two thousand artabæ, to be loaded onto the same ship, the navigation of which is being made, and whatever if he receives public goods, according to those being delivered by him, to bring down according to the handwritten document to the most illustrious Alexandria or wherever it may be commanded and to deliver it from the full load and to bring the letters of this delivery from the fortunate sixth year of the indiction, so that there may be no complaint against you concerning it, and whenever he may choose to deliver it, the same ship with its equipment, as if you receive it without the violence of God or me, the guarantor, it is necessary to bear all things concerning it that are sought or I would be liable to the divine oath.

I acknowledge, swearing by the revered divine oath of our lord Julian, eternal Augustus, voluntarily and of my own free will, to guarantee Aurelius Horoptoleēs from the most illustrious city of Antinoopolis, residing in the same village of Pela, who has been entrusted by you, the landholder, to possess the Greek-type ship with a seaweed rudder, capable of carrying approximately two thousand artabas, more or less, on condition that he himself sails in the same ship, acting as its captain, and whenever he undertakes cargoes of public grain, he will duly transport them according to the receipts given by him in writing to the most illustrious Alexandria or wherever else he is ordered, and deliver them in full, and bring back the receipts of their delivery from the fortunate sixth new indiction, so that no complaint may arise against you concerning him. And whenever you choose, he shall deliver the same ship along with its equipment as you may accept, barring acts of God, or else I, the guarantor, shall necessarily bear all claims made against him concerning this matter, or else I shall be liable to the divine oath.
