Plautius Italus to the strategoi and royal scribes of the below-listed nomes, greetings.
I have appended a copy of the letter written by me to Sarapion, the strategos of the Tanite nome, so that you also may be informed and know the instructions given [...].
(Year) 25, of the nome of Bubastis.
[...] in order that other matters previously [...] may be administered [...].
[...] is being managed [...] the most worthy person having received [...] owed [...].
[...] of the instructions given [...] having arranged through the silver account of the month Phaophi to the royal scribe [...] of the 24th year, silver (talents) [...].
Carry this out. But if clearly and promptly the necessary things [...] he has transferred to you for collection [...], and there is nothing lately written by him, he would have withheld the payment of the silver previously dispatched to him by you. And take care henceforth that nothing occurs contrary to what has been agreed upon.
(Year) 25, Choiak 20.
Another letter: Plautius Italus to the strategoi and royal scribes of the below-listed nomes, greetings. Upon examining the silver accounts, I found that some of the strategoi and royal scribes had taken salaries for some time on their own authority, acting more from thoughtlessness than from obedience to the orders given. To those individuals I have already sent the necessary instructions, but now I issue this second general warning to all: without explicit permission, do not touch the imperial funds.
