To Theon, strategos, from Serenus, freedman of Apollonianus, son of Sarapion, from the city of Oxyrhynchus. From the register of official records, this is a copy: Antoninus, also called Pudes, priest and chief judge of Oxyrhynchus, greets the strategos. Let a copy of the submitted memorandum be delivered as stated. Farewell. Year 19 of Aurelii Antoninus and Commodus, our lords Augusti, Phaophi 7. Sarapion, I have signed. Hephaestion, also called Sarapion, I wrote. To Antoninus, also called Pudes, priest, chief judge, and overseer of the money-changers and other courts, from Serenus, freedman of Apollonianus, son of Sarapion, from Oxyrhynchus. I lent, according to a public record registered in the archive of Oxyrhynchus, in the past 18th year, month Sebastos 11, to Sarapias, daughter of Podon son of Horus, whose mother is Thaesis, from Psobthis of the metropolis of the Small Oasis, nine hundred silver drachmas at interest of one drachma per mina per month, with the principal due in the month Kaisareios of the same 18th year. It was stipulated that if she did not repay within the set term, I and my assigns would retain ownership and control of her slave Sarapias, then about 25 years old, along with other conditions concerning escape or death of the slave, as detailed in the loan agreement for my security. Since the term has passed without repayment, I request you to instruct the strategos of Oxyrhynchus to deliver a copy of this document to Sarapias if she survives, or otherwise to her heirs, or if minors, to their legal guardians, whose names will be declared at the proper places, so they may know and repay me or be aware that I will take appropriate legal measures as necessary.
