To me, the writing by Julius Maximianus, the most powerful
commander, concerning the establishment of practical matters,
I have presented publicly as it was commanded,
so that all may know what he has ordered. In the second year
of the Emperor Caesar Trajan Hadrian Augustus, 23.
Julius Maximianus greets Demetrius, general of Oxyrhynchus.
If also through the notes which I have presented
it will be clear what has been established in the matters,
I did not think it excessive to also make them clear through
this letter, which I also wish to present to you publicly.
For I am convinced that all those established by me, as I assume,
are being carefully examined and with which it is appropriate to follow
the commands of the most powerful governor.

Although the names of those appointed to the offices will be clear through the memoranda which I have previously posted, I considered it not superfluous also to make them known through this letter, which I also wish you to publicly display. For I am convinced that all those appointed by me will, as I expect, diligently and with the appropriate scrutiny follow the instructions of the most excellent governor.
