To Gaius Julius Asinianus, general of Arsinoitus, from Menestheus son of Theon. From which I made (this document) in the 14th year of the god Claudius, in the matter of the summons and the transfer of the distribution concerning other men and concerning Heratios son of Maron, as they were not properly prevailing over those belonging to my wife Maronides. On the one hand, concerning Heratios about the city of Leto in the territory of Heracleides, six acres of vineyard land, and on the other hand, concerning the other men belonging to Maronides, I had over all of them from Lucius Lusius Geta, who had previously been the judge, Gaius Julius Iollian, priest and gymnasiarch of Alexandria, who, having heard from me and the others, established that my wife should remain in possession (*) according to what I have (*) in the memoranda. And since Heratios had become invisible and had not appeared at the trial, it was written beforehand (*) by Geta through a pre-written document, and not even so did he appear until now, having established himself in a foreign land (*) as if he were in the judgment and the time of the trial not having intervened. Now (*) since I have arrived and have taken part on behalf of the Myssian [land] to oppose the six acres of vineyard land, I myself, not being at ease, but rather resisting much more against those who are summoned in the summons, I present this memorandum and I demand (*) that it be recorded by you that the counter-document be transmitted to those who are summoned through an attendant, so that they may know where if the lord governor Tiberius Claudius Balbillus makes the nearest deliberation concerning the matter of the meeting of that one, I may receive my rights, and they may receive their due.

Σεβαστο]ῦ̣ Γερμα̣[νικοῦ Αὐτο]κράτορος
To Gaius Julius Asinianus, strategos of the Arsinoite nome,
from Mnesitheos son of Theon. Concerning the complaint I made
in the fourteenth year of the divine Claudius, and the subsequent
transfer of the case against certain men and against Heration son of Maron,
on the grounds that they unjustly held property belonging to my wife Maronis,
namely, in the case of Heration, six arouras of vineyard land near the city of Letous in the Herakleides division,
and other properties belonging to Maronis held by other men,
I obtained from Lucius Lucius Geta, former prefect, as judge
Gaius Julius Iollas, priest and gymnasiarch of Alexandria,
who, after hearing me and the others, decided that the ownership should remain
with my wife, in accordance with the documents I possess.
Since Heration disappeared and did not appear at the trial,
he was publicly summoned by Geta through proclamation, and even then,
as he has not appeared until now, he was considered to have deliberately absented himself
from the district, as the time for judgment had not yet arrived.
Now, having arrived and having taken action concerning the matter of Mys[...],
who claims three of the six arouras of vineyard land, and Heration himself
the other three arouras, I myself, not resting quietly,
but rather strongly maintaining my accusation against the defendants,
submit this memorandum and request that, after it has been registered by you,
a copy be delivered through an official to the defendants, so that they may appear,
wherever the lord prefect Tiberius Claudius Balbillus
holds the next hearing, in order that through his decision
I may obtain justice, and they what is fitting.
Farewell.
[Of the] Emperor Augustus Germanicus...
