The community from the village of Takona in the Oxyrhynchite nome, through us, Ioannes Patbos and Nilas son of Serenus, accepting also the opinion of the other fellow-villagers, to Aurelius Anouphios son of Theodoros, through you, his father Theodoros son of Megalos also called Didymos, from the Oxyrhynchite nome, legal representative, greetings.
Since it is fitting for us to appoint a legal representative according to the proportion falling upon our village, having become united and having agreed unanimously, we have appointed you, the aforementioned Anouphios, through your father Theodoros, for the twelfth and thirteenth indictions, to the same office and care of legal representative, on condition that you remain and obey the duties of the legal representative and by no means withdraw. It was agreed and decided that we shall provide you annually, as stated, for the twelfth and thirteenth indictions, as salary, apart from the so-called assistance, twenty-six gold solidi, provided that you respond to the public authorities and perform all duties belonging to the legal representative, and provide every response on our behalf according to the portion incumbent upon us, and by no means withdraw. For your security, we have made this appointment, which, being valid and simple, was written down, and upon being questioned, we have agreed.
† We, Aurelii Ioannes Patbos and Nilas son of Serenus, the aforementioned, accepting also the opinion of the other fellow-villagers, have made the appointment of the legal representative, and everything written above is agreed upon by us as stated.
