I, the undersigned John, acknowledge that I have received from you in respect of the price of the subordinate grain according to the three gold coins for six drachmas at the private weight, it is made of gold coins for six drachmas at the private weight, either I or the guarantor of this, being liable for him for the payment of these, to give you thirteen and a half artabas of grain in the new moon of the following month Thoth of the coming year.

I, the aforementioned John, acknowledge that I have received from you, as payment for the price of the wheat specified below, the agreed sum of three gold solidi minus six carats by private weight (total: 3 gold solidi minus 6 carats by private weight), on condition that I, or my guarantor who is bound on my behalf for the payment of these, will deliver to you thirteen and a half artabas of wheat by just measure at the new moon of the coming month Thoth of the incoming year 181/150 from the new crops of the thirteenth indiction.
If we do not deliver the said wheat—either I, the debtor, or I, his guarantor—we jointly promise to pay within the set term the same three gold solidi minus six carats as stated above.
