Year of the August month of New Augustus in the city of Oxyrhynchus of Thebais, with good fortune. This is what Achilles son of Heracleus, of the mother of Theon, of Tapontis, has arranged. From the city of Oxyrhynchus in the street. As long as I live, I have the authority over my own property, which I may wish to execute and to change and to annul this will, which I may complete, shall be valid. If I die under this will, I leave heirs whatever I have, children and Amoin and Zoilon, both of the mother of Alexatos, of Heracleus, Archius, from the same city, equally to each of them if they live; but if not, the children of this one, and if I have no children, only the aforementioned Amoin and Zoilon or whoever of them survives, all of whom if I leave behind in any way, upon those who have received my property to give them with one year of my death, which I arrange for him twenty silver drachmas, without any violation of the overall authority, the one who violates shall pay to the one remaining both the damage and a fine of five hundred silver drachmas and to the public the same and nothing less shall remain valid. The will is valid. I, Achilles son of Heracleus of Theon, have made this will and after my death, I leave heirs whatever I have, children and Amoin and Zoilon, both equally, if I do not have children, only Amoin and Zoilon or whoever of them survives, all of whom if I leave behind in any way, upon those who have received my property to give them with one year of my death, twenty silver drachmas as stated. [In the year - ca.38 - of the month] Sebastos Neos Sebastos, the 13th day, in the city of Oxyrhynchus of the Thebaid, with good fortune.
[Thus has disposed, being of sound mind and judgment, Achillas son of Herakleios, grandson of] Theon, whose mother is Taponthos Naarous, from the city of Oxyrhynchus, in the street.
For as long as I live, I retain the right to manage my own property, to do whatever I wish, to alter and annul this will, and whatever I execute shall be valid.
But if I die with this will in effect, I leave as heirs any children I may have, and also Amoin and Zoilos, both sons of Atreus, grandson of Alexas, whose mother is Heraklous, daughter of Archias, from the same city, equally each if they survive, but if not, their children. If I have no children, I leave as sole heirs the aforementioned Amoin and Zoilos or whichever of them survives, of all that I leave behind in any manner whatsoever, on condition that those who inherit my property give within one year after my death twenty silver drachmas as I have directed, with no one having any authority whatsoever to violate this. Whoever violates this shall pay to the one abiding by it both damages and a penalty of five hundred silver drachmas, and an equal amount to the public treasury, and the provisions herein shall remain valid. This will is valid.
I, Achillas son of Herakleios, grandson of Theon, have made this will, and after my death I leave as heirs any children I may have, and Amoin and Zoilos, both sons of Atreus, equally. If I have no children, only Amoin and Zoilos or whichever of them survives shall inherit all that I leave behind in any manner whatsoever, on condition that those who inherit my property give within one year after my death twenty silver drachmas as stated above. I am 44 years old, with a scar on my left shoulder, and my seal is...
