[To Bacchontis, the administrator] from Amenne[us],
[son of Horus, and On]nophris, son of Teos,
[embalmers] from Tanis of the Arsinoite nome. We report
Abykis, son of Horus, and Kelechon, son of Pasites,
and Pasin, son of Psenophmoutis, embalmers
[from the village] of Ph[iladel]phia of the same nome,
that, since there was an edict that the property of those
who were [associated] with the rebels
should be confiscated to the royal treasury, and since Psenophmoutis,
son of Paos, was among the rebels,
and he had no relatives, but possessed
lands and other property, as well as
similarly an embalming privilege
of the embalming workshops in Philadelphia, these things
having been seized and recorded for sale,
his property was sold to the royal treasury.
The house he owned in the aforementioned village
was bought by [Hakor], son of Paches, a royal farmer
from the same village, who holds it
until now. But the other possessions and the aforementioned privilege
were unlawfully divided among themselves by those around Abykis,
against whom I am lodging this complaint, without recording the price
as was customary. The annual revenue from this privilege
amounts to 4 drachmas of bronze, which they have collected
from the 2nd year until now, for 19 years,
totaling 12 talents and 4 drachmas of bronze. Therefore, so that nothing
due to the royal treasury is omitted, we request, if it seems good to you,
to write to Hephaistion, the overseer,
to send the aforementioned persons to you,
so that the stated amount of bronze may be recovered
for the royal treasury...
Do not allow anyone to lay hands on these matters
until the investigation concerning them
has been completed.
Farewell.
