[† In the name of the] Lord and Master Jesus Christ, [our God and Savior.]
[In the reign of our most] pious [master, greatest benefactor Flavius] Maurice Tiberius, the eternal Augustus [and Emperor, year 10, consulship of the same] most pious master, year 9, indiction 10, [in the city of Oxyrhynchus.]
[To the most reverent] George, priest [of the holy church, originating] from this city of Oxyrhynchus, Aurelii Jacob and Victor, brothers of the same family, sons of Phib and mother [...], originating from the hamlet of Lucius in the Oxyrhynchite nome, greetings.
We acknowledge having received from your reverence and borrowed from hand to hand [for our own necessary and public needs] seven gold solidi, weighed by private standard, which we promise to repay without any risk to your reverence, along with their interest, from the produce of one and a half arouras of land cultivated by us with two crops of hay, amounting to sixty-four bundles of hay, whenever your reverence chooses, without delay, specifically in the month Pachon of the present tenth indiction. For security of repayment, we have already pledged to your reverence the usufruct of the same one and a half arouras as a lawful mortgage and pledge, located in our aforementioned hamlet on its southern side, and we shall not be permitted to remove this land from the mortgage until repayment and fulfillment of the debt, nor sell, pledge, or otherwise manage it to the detriment of the debt, nor claim to have repaid anything without written receipts, under penalty of our property being liable for this debt. This document is valid and simple, and upon questioning we have acknowledged it.
Aurelii Jacob and Victor, aforementioned, have made this mortgage document of seven gold solidi weighed privately as stated. Anastasius, notary, wrote this for them, as they are illiterate.
(Latin:) "I, Anastasius, completed this."
