I acknowledge that I have received from you in use through your hand from your house for my own and necessary need a single gold coin, a simple and stable one, which being safe from all danger, I will necessarily return to you on the fifth and on the tenth of the month of Phamenoth of the current year, the 7th indiction, without any contradiction and judgment, being made to you of the collection from me and from all those who are under me. The letter is a simple one written and having been asked, I acknowledged. (hand 2) Aurelius Kolloouthos, son of Anouthios, the one mentioned, I have in use the gold coin, one of the capital, and I will return it in the deadline as is appropriate and having been asked, I acknowledged. I acknowledge that I have received from you, through your household, for my personal and necessary use, one solidus of gold, simple, tested, and of correct weight, making one gold solidus of capital, which I will necessarily repay to you without any risk whatsoever on the twenty-fifth of the current month Phamenoth of the present year 145, 14th indiction, without fail and without any dispute, lawsuit, or judgment, the repayment being made to you from myself and from all my possessions.
This simple promissory note is valid, and upon being questioned, I have acknowledged it.
(hand 2) I, Aurelius Kollouthos, son of Anouthios, the aforementioned, have received for use the one gold solidus of capital and will repay it within the stated term as set forth, and upon being questioned, I have acknowledged it.
