To Lucius Anthetius Germanus, the chief gymnasiarch of the city of the Antinoeans, from Cassius, the mother of Taonno- phreus. I wish to rent from you the properties of the year that has passed and those that are falling into the present twenty-fourth year of the olive trees and the date palms, the fruits that you have around Philadelphia, seven acres or however many there are, if they are called Julian, the tax of all silver drachmas of seven hundred and exceptional date palms, one artaba of dry pressed date palm wood, one measure of the black olive trees of the village and half a measure of the same, and ten baskets of double measures and four of uncounted and safe works, all of which are yours, to you, Anthetius Germanus, and the watering and the ochre and the harvesting and the keepers that are for me, the one renting. You have all of the due tax of seven hundred drachmas on account of one hundred drachmas, and the remaining drachmas of six hundred thousand I will pay at the same time with the harvesting and I will hand over the olive grove that is being harvested and the harvesting. To Lucius Anthestius Germanus, former magistrate and gymnasiarch of the city of the Antinoites, from Cassius, fatherless, whose mother is Taonnophris. I wish to lease from you the olive and date fruits of the past 13th year and falling into the present 14th year, from your olive-grove near Philadelphia, consisting of seven arourae or however many there may be, called "of Julius," for a total rent of one thousand seven hundred silver drachmas, and additionally one artaba of choice dry pressed dates measured by the village's date-measure, and half an artaba of selected black olives measured by the same measure, and ten two-choinix baskets and four kallunthra (containers), without reckoning and without risk, with all labor being your responsibility, Anthestius Germanus, but the irrigation, transportation, harvesting, and guarding being my responsibility as the lessee. You have received on account one hundred drachmas of the total rent of one thousand seven hundred drachmas, and I will pay the remaining one thousand six hundred drachmas at the time of harvest, and I will return the olive-grove after it has been irrigated and harvested. The lease is valid.
