From the notes of the most excellent general, Faustus, regarding the matters discussed with the council of the strategists, he said: "According to what has been examined by me and what has been commanded by the most illustrious leader, it is necessary to arrive at his judgment, in which I will make clear all that has been done concerning me. There will be sufficient persons to assist in the judgment, namely the law-keeper Dios and those who have taken along with him Demetrius and Epimachus, as well as the old guards Heracleides and Mysthes. Dios the law-keeper said: 'Hermias and Dios, the bearers of swords, have also taken along with us the Harpaesis.' Faustus commanded them to be summoned, and when they did not obey, Faustus said: 'If they do not come, the following will happen: let also Areios, the secretary of Harpokratios the general, provide enough until Harpokrates the servant is found; for he is indeed necessary.' Harpokratios the general said: 'I have in the treasury wheat and barley and lentils and other kinds, but the measurement of these things differs for me. And I am afraid that these will not be recorded in my account and will be sold to the treasury.' Faustus inquired: 'By whom are they being held?' He answered: 'By the grain dealers and the others. Therefore, if it seems good to you, appoint some to follow.' Faustus said: 'What have you done regarding these matters?' He answered: 'I will not be able to act according to the time until these matters are managed.' Faustus inquired: 'How much time is needed for the measurement?' He answered: 'The most illustrious leader has commanded that it be done in a few days, and concerning other debts, it will be.' Faustus said: 'As I have said before, I will make all these things clear to the most illustrious leader; and I will likewise make this clear, that the measurement is most necessary, so that if it seems good to him, he may command it to be done.' Harpokratios the general said: 'Therefore, do you command me to remain in this matter?' Faustus said: 'Wait for what is necessary to be done; for I will write to him, so that if he wishes, he may immediately inform me.'

[From] the memoranda of Vedius Faustus, the most excellent epistrategos:
Among other things, Faustus, having deliberated with those sitting in council, said to Harpocration, strategos of the divisions of Themistos and Polemon: "According to what has been examined by me and what has been ordered by the most illustrious governor, it will be necessary to come to his decision, to whom I will report everything done under my authority. Those who will duly proceed to the decision will be Dios the nomophylax, and those who took custody of Harphaesis, Demetrios and Epimachos, and also the palaistrophylakes Herakleides and Mysthes." Dios the nomophylax said: "Hermias and Dios, the sword-bearers, also took custody of Harphaesis with us." Faustus ordered them to be summoned, and when they did not obey, Faustus said: "If they do not appear, the consequence will follow, and Areios, the secretary of Harpocration the strategos, will provide sufficient surety until Harpokras the attendant is found; for he too is necessary."
Harpocration the strategos said: "I have 92 (artabas) of wheat in the granaries, and 19 of barley, and 8 1/2 of lentils, and also other kinds; the measuring out of these concerns me. And I fear lest these be charged to my account and lost to the treasury." Faustus asked: "By whom would they be charged?" He replied: "By the grain-measurers and others. If it seems good to you, appoint some persons to supervise." Faustus said: "[...] concerning these matters?" He replied: "I will not cease acting at this time until these matters are settled." Faustus asked: "How much time is needed for the measuring?" He replied: "The most illustrious governor ordered it to be done in 30 days, but there will also be need for other things." Faustus said: "As I previously stated, I will report all these things to the most illustrious governor, and I will likewise report this, that the measuring is most necessary, so that he may order whatever he sees fit." Harpocration the strategos said: "Then, in the meantime, do you order me to wait?" Faustus said: "Wait, doing what is necessary; for I will write to him, so that if he wishes you to come immediately, he will inform me."
