From the notes of the most excellent general, Faustus, regarding the matters discussed with the council of the strategists, he said: "According to what has been examined by me and what has been commanded by the most illustrious leader, it is necessary to arrive at his judgment, in which I will make clear all that has been done concerning me. There will be sufficient persons to assist in the judgment, namely the law-keeper Dios and those who have taken along with him Demetrius and Epimachus, as well as the old guards Heracleides and Mysthes. Dios the law-keeper said: 'Hermias and Dios, the bearers of swords, have also taken along with us the Harpaesis.' Faustus commanded them to be summoned, and when they did not obey, Faustus said: 'If they do not come, the following will happen: let also Areios, the secretary of Harpokratios the general, provide enough until Harpokrates the servant is found; for he is indeed necessary.' Harpokratios the general said: 'I have in the treasury wheat and barley and lentils and other kinds, but the measurement of these things differs for me. And I am afraid that these will not be recorded in my account and will be sold to the treasury.' Faustus inquired: 'By whom are they being held?' He answered: 'By the grain dealers and the others. Therefore, if it seems good to you, appoint some to follow.' Faustus said: 'What have you done regarding these matters?' He answered: 'I will not be able to act according to the time until these matters are managed.' Faustus inquired: 'How much time is needed for the measurement?' He answered: 'The most illustrious leader has commanded that it be done in a few days, and concerning other debts, it will be.' Faustus said: 'As I have said before, I will make all these things clear to the most illustrious leader; and I will likewise make this clear, that the measurement is most necessary, so that if it seems good to him, he may command it to be done.' Harpokratios the general said: 'Therefore, do you command me to remain in this matter?' Faustus said: 'Wait for what is necessary to be done; for I will write to him, so that if he wishes, he may immediately inform me.'
