To Julius Marcellinus, the most distinguished [governor(?)]
of the province,
from Aurelius Peteurius, son of Kollouthos, who served as gymnasiarch,
councillor of the illustrious city of Oxyrhynchus. I request,
my lord, that you grant me the right of possession of the property
belonging to Aurelia Tasarap[․․․․․․․],
mother of Sintheus, from the same [city, my mother(?)]
who has died, to me as [her] heir,
according to ⟦․․․․․․⟧ her will,
from that part of the decree
by which you promised to grant it to the lawful heirs.
Issued after the consulship of Antiochianus and Orfitus.
This document is a formal petition addressed to a Roman official, requesting legal recognition of inheritance rights according to a will. The petitioner identifies himself as Aurelius Peteurius, a prominent citizen of Oxyrhynchus, and seeks official confirmation of his inheritance from Aurelia Tasarap[․․․․․․․], presumably his mother or a close relative. The dating reference ("after the consulship of Antiochianus and Orfitus") places the document in a specific historical context, likely in the late Roman period.
