Of the consulship of our lord Gratian, eternal Augustus, and of the most illustrious Flavius Merobau, in the month of Tybi, Aurelius Martyrius of Aphrodisius from the illustrious city of Oxyrhynchus, a tarasikarios, greets Aurelius Androgenes from the same city. I acknowledge that I have received from you your son Phoibammon to be employed by me in the art of the tarasikarios from the present month of Tybi until the month of Mesore of the current year, receiving from me for his daily wage thirty thousand silver denarii, and in the month of Pharmouthi of the same current year, to provide him with one new linen sticharion. And let it not be permitted for me to lose this, nor to withhold the wage that has been established before the completion of the time. If you wish, I will give it to you in the account of the chair and for the sake of the service of a thousand myriads of silver. And I too, in regard to the wage, let it not be permitted for me to do so before the completion of the time, providing you with a reason. The document is written simply, and when asked, I acknowledged it. Aurelius Martyrius, I have made this acknowledgment and I will return everything as it pertains. Aurelius Dorotheus wrote on behalf of him letters, not knowing. Through me, Dioscorus.

[In the consulship of] our eternal lord Gratian Augustus for the fourth time and Flavius Merobaudes, the most illustrious, on the 3rd of Tybi,
I, Aurelius Martyrios, son of Aphrodisios, from the illustrious and most illustrious city of Oxyrhynchus, a tanner by trade,
send greetings to Aurelius Androgenes from the same city.
I acknowledge that I have received from you your son Phoibammon, on the condition that he will work for me in the tanning trade
from the current month Tybi until Mesore of the present year, year 53 and 22 (indiction?),
receiving from me as wages daily thirty myriads of silver denarii.
And in the month of Pharmouthi of the same present year, I will provide him with one new linen tunic.
And it is not permitted for me to dismiss him nor to reduce the agreed wages before the completion of the agreed time.
But if you wish, I will hand him over to you upon payment of one thousand myriads of silver denarii as compensation for the workshop and inconvenience.
Likewise, I myself am not permitted to dismiss him before the completion of the agreed time, and I will preserve the agreement intact for you.
This document, written simply, is valid, and upon being questioned, I have acknowledged it.
I, Aurelius Martyrios, have made this agreement and will fulfill everything as stated above.
I, Aurelius [Dorothe]os, son of Nilos, wrote on his behalf, as he does not know letters.
Through me, Diosk[oros?].
