In the name of the Lord and Master Jesus Christ our God and Savior, (month) Pharmouthi, 24th indiction. Aurelius Serenus, son of Phoibammos, mother Nonnas, slow, signing, captain of Tubiou, Apas of Sion, from the law of Heracleopolis to Aurelius Hieremias, son of Herminos, merchant, from the village of Kirkas of the Theodosian law, greetings. I, the undersigned Serenus, acknowledge through this my written assurance that I have received and will load onto the ship under my command, which is also registered in the harbor of the same village of Kirkas, wine of 5,000 and 800, totaling 6,000, which is clean wine. I, the sailor, acknowledge that I am ready to restore to you until the harbor of Paulinus and will deliver to you these in full with all good faith and consciousness and without any maritime wrongdoing, except by the violence of God, and upon my ship under the burden equal to ten days and concerning the expenses of the river and the bends and the uncovered that do not have their measure below and those restored from the same village, I see.
{From the same village, I see.} This danger to the sailor, still not providing one horn for the cutting over the ladder according to custom, the uncovered from the same village having their measure below, I see your merchant. This danger. After this, I will take from you the word of freight agreed upon by each other, of the 750 wine knidia, a gold coin by weight of the harbor of the departure, with God, after the unloading of the ship, immediately and without doubt. It seemed that if it happens, we will be fortunate to sell the loads in any harbor before we reach the mentioned harbor of Paulinus, receiving from me the stated freights in full. We will not depart on the tenth day from that harbor, and upon you to make the merchant to me and those with me sailors, two of them, and upon you of the merchants to meet with me until you bring to the river of your own danger and for your safety, I have arranged for you this freight agreement, Lord, and firm, and being questioned, you will acknowledge.

† In the name of the Lord and Master Jesus Christ, our God and Savior, on the 24th of the month Pharmouthi, 9th indiction.
† Aurelius Serenus, son of Phoibammon, whose mother is Nonna, shipmaster, slowly signing, from Toubios Apa Sion, from the Heracleopolite nome, to Aurelius Jeremias, son of Herminos, merchant from the village Kirka in the Theodosiopolite nome, greetings.
I, the aforementioned Serenus, acknowledge through this written guarantee to you that I have received and loaded onto my ship, mentioned above, in the harbor of the same village Kirka, five thousand eight hundred twenty-six jars (knidia) of wine, making a total of 5826 jars of pure wine, which I, the shipmaster, promise and am ready to deliver to you at the harbor of Paulinos, fully and completely, with all good faith and conscience, without theft or any maritime wrongdoing, excepting acts of God, and on condition that I unload the ship within ten days. Regarding expenses of the river, bends, and uncovered jars without measure, restored from the same cargo, the risk is mine, the shipmaster's. Moreover, I, the shipmaster, provide one keration as customary for the dock. But the risk of uncovered jars from the same cargo having their measure is yours, the merchant's. After this, I shall receive from you the agreed freight charge at the rate of one gold coin per 750 jars of wine, weighed at the harbor of unloading, immediately and without dispute after unloading the ship. It is agreed that if we have the opportunity to sell the cargo at any harbor before reaching the said harbor of Paulinos, I shall receive the full freight charges. We shall not exceed ten days in that harbor, and you, the merchant, shall provide storage for me and my sailors, and you, the merchant, shall accompany me until you have brought the cargo to the river at your own risk. For your security, I have made this freight contract authoritative and binding, and upon questioning, you have agreed.
