Ἰουλίῳ τῷ πατρὶ χαίρειν.
μὴ ἀμελήσῃς διʼ οὗ ἂν εὕρῃς γράψαι τί σοι δοκεῖ περὶ τῶν τριάκοντα.
ἐπεί μοι ἐξ οὗ κατέπλευ[σ]α πέμπτην ταύτην ὁ πατὴρ περὶ αὐτῶν ἐπιστολήν μοι γράψει καὶ ὀργιζόμενος καὶ μὲλλω αὐτὰ ἀγοράζειν, ἐπὶγνώσῃ; εἰπέ μοι διʼ οὗ ἐὰν δύνῃ, μόνον μὴδεὶς γεινωσκέτω ὃ ποιεῖς, εἰ ἡ βιβλιοθήκη συγχρηματίζει καὶ καθαρά ἐστι ἀπὸ ὑποθήκης καὶ ἀπὸ ἰδίου λόγου, καὶ ταχέως μοι γράψον.

Tell me through whom you can, only let no one know what you are doing, if the library is managing together and is clean from deposit and from its own word, and write to me quickly.
I beg you concerning my affairs that you may not neglect the orders given to you. And let the cattle not be idle so that they may not be burdened, whoever is to be laid down on the smooth bedding so that they may greet Diogenes and your mother and Cyra the midwife and your companion. And I am concerned to write to me about the thirty.
