In the time of the most illustrious Emperor Caesar Marcus Julius Philippus Augustus and Messius, in the year of the third, in the month of Loios, five days before the Kalends of September, in Antioch, in the colony of the metropolis in the Adriana Thermes.
To the most distinguished Julius Priscus, the governor of Mesopotamia, overseeing the consulate from Archodorus Phallaeus and Philotas Nisraiabou and Uorodus Symisbarachus and Abedsautha Abediarda, being from the village of Beth-Phouris, the lord of the region around Appadanan.
Having, O Lord, a dispute among our fellow villagers concerning land and other matters, we have come here to justify ourselves before your goodness, and having taken time in your court, the matter was brought forth for eight months, as your greatness recalls, before the ninth Kalends of September, which has recently passed, and you, the benefactor, having heard part of the matter, commanded that when you are fortunate in those places, a limit should be set.
Since therefore, until now, the matter has not received judgment, the fellow villagers are attempting to expel us from the land in which we find ourselves and are forcing us before the court, but the divine regulations, which you worship knowing above all, command that those who are caught in the law remain in it until judgment, for this reason we have fled to you and beseech you to command by your signature to Claudius Aristoni, the most powerful steward in Appadana, under whom the administration is, that everything be kept intact and violence be prevented until your fortunate arrival in those places, so that, having succeeded in this, we may always give thanks to your fortune.
Aurelius Archodorus Phallaeus has delivered this and also to the account of the others.
Signature of Julius Priscus, the most distinguished governor of Mesopotamia overseeing the consulate.
Aristons the most powerful will test your dignity.
