To the hospitable commander, Arsenios, of the portion of Themistos, from Herieus of Satabous, from the island of Soknepaia. I have rented still from the year of the god Claudius from the former estate of Narcissus an oil press for a fee (of drachmas) and three measures of oil. Since then, the superiors have not provided for the equipment nor for the other things that were necessary, I myself was compelled to purchase and prepare the equipment and likewise the sacrifices and the other things that were needed again from my own resources, with none of them making any return to me. Therefore, since the oil press was also mixed up and I was compelled to provide supports and to be forced to pay taxes outside of the oil press, I demand that I no longer endure the losses and compel the superiors to make me free from the taxes.

To Philoxenos, former strategos (governor) of the Arsinoite nome,
from Herieus, son of Satabous, from Soknopaiou Nesos.
I rented, from the 13th year of the divine Claudius, from the former property of Narcissus,
an olive press at a rent of 200 drachmas and three measures (choes) of oil.
Since then, however, the officials in charge have not provided for the press either the required measures (choinikides)
or the other necessary items. Thus, I myself was compelled to purchase from my own resources
and equip the press, including machinery, mortars, and other necessary items,
again from my own resources, without receiving any reimbursement from them.
Moreover, since the olive press itself has collapsed and I was forced to provide beams and supports,
and since for two years I have been compelled, while outside the olive press,
to pay the rents from my own household resources, I request
that I no longer be forced to endure these losses,
and that you compel the officials in charge to allow me to remain undisturbed regarding the rents.
