I acknowledge through this document of security that I owe and must pay the sum of thirty artabas of barley, as I will return to you at the time of the collection, with God willing, in the ninth indiction, according to the measure of the most wonderful Saul of the riverine Antaeus. I will carry the transport to the harbor of the navigable river without any contradiction and with all my resources being held by you until the payment of the outstanding debt. This letter I have set for you for security upon my signature, and when questioned, I acknowledged.

I, Aurelius Daueid, son of Victor, grandson of Constantius,
from among the protokometai (village headmen) of the village Aphrodite in the Antaiopolite nome,
undersigned below, greet Aurelius Apollos, the most admirable protokometes,
son of Dioskoros of blessed memory,
from the same village. I acknowledge by this written security
that I owe and am indebted to your admirable person, on account of suretyship
and clear guarantee concerning the payment
of the admirable Hadrian, the soldier,
and the required barley, thirty artabas,
total barley: 30 artabas, which I will repay to you
at the time of the harvest,
God willing, in the coming 9th indiction,
measured by the measure of the admirable Saul,
actuarius (official) of Antaiopolis. I will also undertake
the transportation as far as the harbor
of the navigable river without any objection
or delay, with all my property held by you
as security until the settlement of the aforementioned debt.
