In the seventeenth year of Emperor Caesar Nerva Trajan Augustus Germanicus Dacicus, Hathyr 2.
Euhemeros, son of Sabeinos, and his partners, grain collectors of Teptyne and other villages,
we have measured out from the produce of the sixteenth year
to Diog( ), also called Capitolinus, son of Galates, who became grain collector of the same village,
for the amounts from the handling (χειρισμοῦ) of the fourteenth year of Trajan:
wheat, by the public measure, four and a half artabas, total wheat: 4½ artabas;
barley, thirty and a half and a quarter artabas, total barley: 30¾ artabas.
(Second hand) I, Euhemeros, have signed: wheat four and a half artabas,
barley thirty and a half and a quarter artabas.
This document is a grain receipt from Roman Egypt, dating to the reign of Emperor Trajan (98–117 AD). It records the measurement and transfer of wheat and barley from village grain collectors to an official named Diogenes Capitolinus. The corrections noted in the apparatus indicate scribal errors corrected by modern editors.
